Checking in - 23 Oct 05
Hi all.
Sorry for the long delay. Have started a couple of things to post but don't have much to tell about. Ramadi is about as inviting as the news conveys. The elections were for the most part suprisingly uneventful, although the Army battalion we are partnered with had some bad times. Things are still remarkably quiet even now. Being a glass-half-empty kind of guy, I am waiting for the other shoe to drop, but so far so good.
The weather has changed DRASTICALLY since last I wrote. Heck, even in the last week. About a week ago, it was still highs in the 90s, lows in the 70s. Now it is highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s! Unbelieveable. The Iraqis are all dressing like it was about to drop below freezing; we "americki" all agree that the change is fabulous.
All on the team are doing fine; spending the lull in action to get some things done around the base and do some long overdue planning with the Iraqis.
Hey, before I forget, a big thank you to Ag from Denver to hooking us up with coffee. I highly recommend the Boot Camp blend, the team favorite.
Also, finally have settled on names for the HUMMVs. "Cowboys" (from the last team, by default), "Killer Junior" (an artillery term, believe it or not), and "The Dude" ( a reference to the movie "The Big Lebowski"). Just need to get someone with any artistic ability to apply said names to the Hummers themselves.
Well, gotta run. I have been on my heels taking any pictures lately either, so I will try to rectify that. Anyone want a picture of something specific, ask away. Talk to you much sooner, I promise.
